Howdy y’all! If you came to learn about the author of this country kitchen, you’ve come to the right place.
My name is Crystal L Barnes, and welcome to my kitchen located way down south in the heart of Texas. I didn’t plan on having visitors, but my friend and fellow-baker Janice Thompson convinced me there were others who’d love to learn my recipes and the way I cook, especially from scratch.
What you’ll find…
So, if you’re lookin’ to learn how to can your own produce, make traditional southern meals, cut up a whole chicken, or even find some gluten-free southern recipes, you’ve come to the right place. You may even find some waste-not-want-not tips to make your meager means go farther. My parents both came from large families, so they learned to make do with what they had or get creative.
Preserving a Legacy
What they’ve learned, they’ve instilled in me, and I want that knowledge to be preserved for future generations. (Did I mention I’m an eighth generation Texan?) This blog is a stab at that. So feel free to scroll through the pages, and glean from our experiences, and make them your own.
The More the Merrier
And speaking of more, if you want to see what else I do when I’m not in the kitchen, check out crystal-barnes.com where you’ll find the books I’ve penned and some of the travels I’ve made.
